History of Incidents
Since the onset of the large-scale conflict in Ukraine, a string of Russian military commanders have been targeted within Moscow.
This new event echoes other notable incidents, such as:
- General Yaroslav Moskalik was died in a vehicle explosion in Moscow earlier this year.
- General Igor Kirillov was killed in late 2024 when a bomb concealed on a scooter was triggered from afar.
While a informant earlier attributed Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such allegations are rarely formally acknowledged as a matter of policy.
Hostilities has been marked by shadowy operations reaching into the streets of the Russian capital.
The investigation into General Sarvarov's death remains underway.
