Expedition 33 Sweeps at the 2025's Golden Joystick Awards
The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards unfolded this past week, and with a remarkable show, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 emerged as the top winner. The breakout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive won the prestigious Game of the Year award, along with accolades for Outstanding Narrative and Best Visual Design.
Adding to the studio's success, its skilled cast also were honored with individual awards. Jennifer English won Outstanding Lead Performance for her role as Maelle, while Ben Starr took home Best Supporting Performer for his work as Verso. Furthermore, Sandfall Interactive itself was named Top Studio. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its creative team achieved seven awards throughout the show.
Additional notable winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which won Best Audio Design and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Top Self-Published Indie and PC Game of the Year. Worth mentioning, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the gamers, with only four special—Critics’ Choice, Breakthrough Award, Hall of Fame, and Streamers’ Choice—decided by experts.
