Nigel Farage Accuses Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “harming young minds” by telling students that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I expect a walkout by educators very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They promote this harmful mindset.”
In response to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union dismissed the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.
“Farage has built his public life on dog-whistle politics and currently, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”
Reform, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have designated an education lead.
Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, years to turn this around.”
Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, he commented: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves as opposed to current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.
Farage has accused the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned at school, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.
Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has about 450,000 members.
Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years led to significant interruptions in schools and extensive missed instruction for students.
During the American gathering, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I am serious. I will help attract vast numbers of young people to these educational programs. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”
The college, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. It offers these excellent programs for free to all who wish to learn.”
