Six Arrested Following €12 Million Armed Raid on Gold Processing Laboratory in France

Six armed perpetrators equipped with assault rifles and handguns detonated charges to breach the security of a gold treatment facility located in Lyon, slightly injuring five staff members during what is being called the latest high-profile broad daylight robbery to occur in the nation.

The bold operation was carried out on the afternoon of Thursday, with officers swiftly apprehending the alleged criminals and securing the stolen items assessed at around €12M (10.5 million pounds), according to officials.

Five employees of the precious metals facility were slightly hurt as a result of the detonation, and three employees were transported to hospital for evaluation, officials confirmed. Twenty-eight employees were present on-site when the thieves struck.

The individuals, considered seasoned offenders, were arrested soon afterwards in the neighboring community of Vénissieux, France, according to investigative sources.

A female accomplice involved in the raid was likewise arrested, officers confirmed.

“Six people who utilized explosives in a raid against a gold refining facility in Lyon, France were arrested at the scene,” France's security official stated online, praising officers for their “quick action, authority and management”.

Assault rifles, handguns and explosives were also confiscated.

The raid happened as French police on that Thursday apprehended five additional individuals, including a primary suspect, in connection with this month's brazen raid on the Louvre museum.

Many investigative personnel have been pursuing four perpetrators who used a vehicle equipped with a moving lift and cutting equipment to access a gallery on the first floor at the prestigious institution on the nineteenth of October, escaping with jewelry valued at approximately €88M.

In a different significant robbery, thieves last month forced their way into the French capital's Natural History Museum, making off with gold samples valued at more than one million dollars. A young Chinese female was arrested earlier this month in the city of Barcelona in relation to the burglary, according to legal authorities.

The string of thefts has generated apprehension in the country regarding inadequate security measures at museums and other institutions holding high-value objects.
