Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's expected for concerns to be raised about his future following another heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the team's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got significant backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points of course but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I accept my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I feel the belief. However I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Response

The manager lamented known failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a spell like this with results like these.”

He stated, “But we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we'll continue to battle.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to its rightful place, show everyone again the values of this club and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
