Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday evening. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital comes as the global fight fans offered its support for the star in the following the heartbreaking incident.
